Biobased and Recycled Plastics
Eco friendly pens are a wide group of products – with very different credentials. Essentially, as well as the numerous designs, there are three material builds which are eco-friendly. Type one include those made from wood or bamboo, then there are those made from recycled plastics and finally, those made from a bioplastic PLA (poly lactic acid) from sugar cane or wheat straw.
How to choose a pen
Choosing an eco-friendly pen should follow the same marketing rules as choosing any other pen. The pen needs to reflect the brand values and the message whilst remaining within the set budget. Different eco-friendly pens have slightly different characteristics:
Bamboo and Wood – sustainable resources. No plastic and the feeling of rejecting the plastic and single use element.
Recycled Plastic - reuse of existing materials – saving the oceans from plastics by putting them to use with a second use and life
Bio Plastics - capturing the technological advances of plastics but using bio degradable materials rather than plastics.
